Nancy
Conroy, R. N., is the Nurse Clinician for outpatient care in the Department
of Neurosurgery. Ms. Conroy has been
specializing in neurosurgery since
1996. Her initial appointment was an an inpatient staff nurse in the
Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery and later was the charge nurse
for the Neurosurgery Intensive Care Unit. For the past five years
Ms. Conroy has been working with Dr. Eric Elowitz as Nurse Clinician
for oupatient services focusing on patient education. Ms. Conroy is
a member of the AANN and is certified in Neuroscience Nursing.
Ms. Conroy works closely with Dr. Elowitz to educate patients about their diagnosis and surgical procedure. She strongly advocates for the patients in the process of preparing for and recovering from neurosurgery. Before and after surgery, she reinforces learning about medication regimes and postoperative recovery.
Ms. Conroy shares with Dr. Elowitz the philosophy that well-informed patients achieve optimal outcomes. "As a team we strive to provide patients with the best neurosurgical care possible in a calm, caring environment."
